Smile at Everyone

We were able to teach L. again and this time we taught her the
family proclamation and it was so great. She always has a lot of
questions and she loves the idea of a traditional family. We went with
sister Maxwell who is in our ward! She's so great and she used to work
with kids that have had rough backgrounds and she has some really
amazing stories which she shared with us. But anyways she always comes
to L.’s with us because our mission focuses on Ward fellow shipping
and they are like best friends now so sister Maxwell always gives the
best testimony and has a lot of knowledge to share. We invited L. to
come to church on Sunday and she said if the weather is good then she
will be there so we prayed all week for sunshine and guess what! God
answered our prayers and L. came to church on Sunday and sat with
us! It was the best feeling in the world. I felt like a kid on their
birthday.

Since it was fast Sunday we had a testimonies during
sacrament meeting. (Where whoever wants to get up during the meeting to
share their personal testimonies they can). Since I am a missionary I
had to get up! It was my first time bearing my testimony in sacrament
meeting. But I felt fine! I bore my testimony on my savior Jesus
Christ and how he atoned for my sins. Sometimes I try to thing about
taking someone's pain away and feeling it for myself so they don't
have to, but it gets really hard because I realize that I can't do it.
It strengthens my testimony knowing that Jesus took on every single
pain I feel today and that I am never alone, which I also bore my
testimony on. The fact that God never leaves me which is so true. I
have seen it on my mission already.

We got to teach the activity day girls on Wednesday about the steps
back to heaven. The steps are repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of
the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end! It was so cute because they
were all excited about their baptisms. They are ages 8-11. We did a
cool object lesson on repentance. We had a bowl of water and everyone
gave us a negative thing they could do. Most said being mean to their
brothers and sisters. For every bad thing we added pepper to the
water. Soon the water was full of pepper and we needed to clean it
out. So we put soap on our fingers and put it near the water with
pepper. The pepper moved to the side of the bowl and it was so cool!
It showed that if we truly repent we can be clean again. I love the
atonement and how Christ can help me not to only become clean
again, but to be happy and help take away the pain of everyday life.
I hope that everyone I meet can learn to apply the atonement and use
it all the time because it really is a huge blessing.

On Friday we all went as a zone to one area and went tracting. I was
on an exchange with sister Geisler who is from Pennsylvania! Everyone
here is always excited to know that I am from Pennsylvania and sister
sowter is from England. We are like exotic to them haha it's great. We
talked to so many great people and it just made my day. We talked to a
really nice old woman who was having a hard time and I felt so sad for
her and she said we could come back to teach her another day! I could
just feel God’s love for each of the people that I met even if they
rejected our message. I am applying Christ like love in my life and
trying to see everyone through God’s eyes. It's been amazing so far.

While I was tracting with sister Sowter we got to this one door and
their dog ran out and started barking at me and when I went to
introduce myself this bug hit me in the face! It was so awkward but I
kept going... After freaking out for a moment. Then I found it on me
later! In my hood!

But anyways it was a great week. It rained all weekend but the work
must go on! So we tracted in the rain, and it made me happy just to
talk to everyone who opened the door. They smiled and wished us good
luck and to stay dry! Oh and one woman said we could come back and she
will make us tea and cake. I will take her up on some cake and then
teach her the word of wisdom!

It really makes my day when people just have a good conversation and
smile at me. I'm sad if they turn us away, but their smiles make me
smile and I'm sure that we planted a seed in them and I believe that
one day they will remember the missionaries who showed up in the rain
to share a message of our savior.

Well it's been a great week again! Love you all! Have a great week!

Love
Sister Peterson
