I got a call in the middle of the day on Wednesday calling me back to
grants pass... to see W get baptized! Along with that call I was
also asked to give a talk on the Holy Ghost. So I was the special
guest speaker on Saturday for the baptism of Willie! We were able to
drive there because it's so close to Medford and we saw W get
baptized! It was so amazing to see him and see him making those
covenants with his father in heaven. He seemed really happy, and he
told us that he felt good after he went down in to the water.
Something that I really focused on in the talk was how the Holy Ghost
is a comforter. He helps us to know that we are ok and that as long as
we try to do what's right and keep the commandments we are going to be
ok! He comforts us when we are at our worst. It's truly the most
amazing gift we could receive.
We were able to make it back in time Saturday for a lesson with the
M family. We were going to talk about forgiveness, but in missionary
life, well and I guess in life things don't always go according to
plan! We ended up teaching them about baptism and how it needs to be
performed by the proper priesthood authority of God for it to be
linked from here on earth to heaven. It was such a good lesson because
they had so many great questions for us! But we couldn't answer them
all then so we are meeting with them again on Saturday!
We had our zone training meeting on Friday which means that sister
Alldredge and I had to teach! We taught our zone on planning and why
we need to make effective and efficient plans. It's important to make
exact plans every day in the mission so that we know what to do every
hour of every day, and then we aren't wasting any time! The district
leaders taught on repentance, and it was really good! I learned a lot
about teaching repentance to those who are learning. It's important
that we take every step to repent and mean it. It goes beyond just
doing the steps necessary. It's making sure that you are changing. And
that's what repentance is. It means you are changing and becoming
better. The zone leaders taught about inviting. We need to invite
everyone we see to do something so that they can become better.
After the meeting sister Alldredge and I decided to walk around our
area and contact some people in that we met a couple weeks ago. We
went to visit this guy named R who is staying with his aunt, and
when we got there R was outside and he told us that his aunt Nancy
wanted to talk to us, so we were so excited because she came out and
told us that her parents were members and that she is a member too! So
we were super excited and then she asked us if the church could help
her out because she has no food. We weren't sure, so we decided to
walk home and get food for her. On our way we met T and S who
are two teenage girls that had lost their faith. We talked to them
about christs church on earth today and they wanted to know more. Then
we kept walking and it took us two hours to get the food and come back
to Nancy's house. It was well worth it! Since we gave away a lot of
our food we've been seeing the lord bless us. This past weekend the
members have given us a lot of the food that they grow in their yard.
It was a real blessing.
On Sunday we went to visit someone we are teaching who has been
meeting with missionaries for a couple years. He has a lot to do
before he can get baptized, but he is working so hard and knows he
wants to get baptized one day. His family are members of the church
and he wants to be with them for eternity. It's amazing to see hoe
dedicated and determined he is to be with his Heavenly Father again
one day. He really amazes me! He's willing to give up his past life
for so,etching so much better. It's amazing!!
Well I hope everyone has a great week and comes closer to God every
day through prayer. Have faith and hope that he will carry you and
answer you when you go to him. I've learned that a lot on my mission
and in my life. I love you all!
Love,
Sister Peterson
