I don't even know how to explain what happened this past week! It was
the busiest week of my mission. On Tuesday we had mlc and we went to
Ashland for our meeting. It was really good and we learned about
remembering our purpose as missionaries also about loving the people
that we teach which I feel like I learn about every day because it's
that important! We drove to the top of mount Ashland and president and
sister Russell bore their testimonies at the top along with president
cropper and president lowery. It was so peaceful and beautiful and
amazing to be able to look out on everything that has been created for
us. We got a new mission rule where we have to sing to members every
time we are in their home. So we went home and tried it out and the
spirit there was so strong! I have a strong testimony now that singing
the hymns with people gains their trust and helps invite the spirit.
Thursday we went to the lds owned pear farm and picked pears as a
zone! Since its in our ward boundaries the members gave me an orange
vest to be over the other missionaries. So I was pretty legit and got
to tell people what to do! Those pears are a huge deal around Oregon
because they go to welfare and help feed people everywhere!
After that we had to plan for our ZTM the next day, so we were
planning all day!
Friday we had ZTM and that means we had to teach... Again. AND
president and sister Russell decided to show up! just to add more
pressure to teaching. It was a really great meeting! The spirit was so
strong and each companionship in the zone was able to contribute to
teaching. Sister Alldredge and I taught on how to work with members.
And did just what happened during mlc and made two companionship sing!
I think it's amazing that hymns teach us about the gospel. I had never
really thought about that before how the music teaches us principles
that God wants us to know! And music brings the spirit so strong.
We met with the m's again on Saturday and taught T the plan of
salvation. She had so many questions about what happens to people that
die who never had the opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ. We
explained to her that we will all have that opportunity whether it be
in this life or the next life. The spirit was pouring out of us in the
lesson. I could literally feel god pushing me to bring her back to
him. I know that he wants her to be baptized so she can be with God
and her family again! I just know it. We invited T to be baptized
and at first she said no, but then the member rephrased it to when she
knows this message is true will she be baptized? And she said yes!!!
She just needs time and we are giving it to her. I'm so excited for
her! And D wants to get baptized but we just need to wait for
T to know this is true.
Sister Alldredge and I were walking down the street going to someone
house, and we ran in to t who we've been trying to set up a lesson
with the entire transfer! He tried to hide from us but
obviously we saw him. So we called him over to us and we talked for
about an hour. He explained to us how he grew up different because he
is African American and how he was raised different. Then sister
Alldredge said " T we are two white chicks here." And then he
interrupted her and I just look at her like wheat the heck! Haha it
was so funny and then we told him we were going to meet Sunday for a
lesson. But then he ended up canceling.
We met E and F on Saturday while walking to a members house.
We stopped to pet their dogs and then started talking to them. At
first E said he already has his religion and F said she
doesn't believe you have to go to a church to have faith, but by the
end they both agreed that it's better to learn. And F told us " I
know I said you don't need to go to church, but I feel like I should
go." It was so cool! Sister Alldredge gave them a Book of Mormon and
F already had one. It really proved my testimony of getting to know
someone before trying to teach them. When we got to know more about
them it was that much easier to teach them because we already had that
relationship going!
I hope you all have a wonderful week! I love you all! And remember to
love everyone you meet.
Love,
Sister Peterson
Pear picking!
I got a finding medallion that I've been waiting for since last transfer!
