Steel Force: Mission Edition

This was a roller coaster week. There was a lot of rain and a lot of walking and a lot of walking in the rain. We took a road trip to Coquille Friday for district meeting and shook a lot of people's hand who had the flu. Luckily I just got my shot and have hand sanitizer in my purse. Then we had to get our car checked and we tracted in the "sketchiest part of our area" as told by a woman we tracted into. So as you can tell it was a good and adventurous week. Let's go!

Tuesday was a little rough. We had a lesson set up with M.W. and when we called to confirm our lesson he told us that he needs to take another path and focus on himself at the moment. Then all of our other lessons that we had set up cancelled and it was a little rough, but we decided to get on our knees and say a prayer. When we were praying I got a prompting to go and visit this man in our area book and then tract his street. Usually he is never home but right when we showed up he was just about to leave and go to work. We got to talk to him for a while and he told us we could come back! And then as we tracted we met this man named J. and when we told him the story of Joseph Smith he said "wow I've never heard that before" and he told us to come back! And then later that night we were walking home from dinner down the same street we were promoted to tract on and we the spirit led us to knock on one house in particular, so we did and we got to talk to a woman who is also named J., and she told us she was looking for a church to join! A lot of good things came when we put ourselves aside and got to work. I've learned to push through the hard times and that's I see the blessings come.

Wednesday we had a lesson with a woman named M. and when we got there she had been having a really hard time. We were able to talk about the atonement and how Christ is the one who knows what she is going through. We showed her a Mormon message named "mountains to climb" and it is all about how we all have struggles but Christ is there and as we turn to him he can give us help. We also read from the book of Mormon with her about Lehi's family and the struggles that they had to go through, but as they followed Gods direction they were blessed. M. is a service oriented amazing woman and we are so grateful to know her and see how she blesses peoples lives. She takes in the homeless and helps them get on their feet. She's an example to both sister Peck and I.

We had a lesson with V. the same day and when we got there we started to talk about her scripture reading, and she told us that she hasn't read in a couple days. So we had to re emphasize why we give her these commitments to read, and since she said she wanted to make that change we brought up baptism and without us saying anything she told us she was going to pray for a specific date to be baptized on! She's really commuted this time to make a choice and make that change. We read 1 Nephi 22 with her and then we asked her to say the closing prayer, and usually when we invite her to say the prayer she says no, so we had this whole picture in our mind of what we will talk about when she says no, but right after we asked she said "ok" and then started to pray! Sister Peck and I were so surprised but in a good way! We call her every day now to make sure that she is reading and praying.

Saturday we went tracting in Idaho! And we also got invited to a party that was going on at one of the homes... I don't think we would fit in very well! As we contacted and knocked doors all day long we finally found a two people right before we left to go home. They brought out their cats to meet us and we became instant friends! Their names are C. and A. They were so nice and willing to listen. We talked about faith and how it drives us to want to do better. I love how faith is an action word and helps us come closer to Christ

Sunday was the sacrament meeting we've been waiting for. The primary program! It was so adorable and seeing all of the little kids up there singing about this gospel was a testimony to me of its truth.

I hope you all have a great Week! I love you all!

Love,
Sister Peterson
