Special K

Hey everyone! This week was crazy! Updates on the girls. P's husband came to town and they are together this week! She's doing amazing! L is finishing up school and working on test taking. A is doing great too! She looked so happy on Sunday. And S is good. We haven't heard much from her recently. But we are trying!

Monday night we went to visit a less active that I know pretty well. He is amazing and has such a strong testimony. He helped P a lot and fellow-shipped her while she was learning about the church. We stopped by after not seeing him all transfer. We talked with him a lot and the spirit told us to share the mountains to climb talk with him. He told us that talk helped him so much on his mission. He also told us he's a lot better now than he has been and he is planning on coming back to church because he's promised too many people! I love the spirit and I love the people here in ysa. They are my family now.

Tuesday we had a lesson with K. He's doing amazing. We taught him the gospel of Jesus Christ, and he soaks up everything and always has the best comments. We asked him why he wanted to start meeting with us in the first place and he told us he wanted to meet because he wanted to learn how to follow God more. It was a really good lesson. We read 2 nephi 31 with him as we taught and he already understood everything so well. K is amazing! Sarah and kameron came to his lesson and were able to share their testimonies with him.

Wednesday we had a specialized training and interviews with President and Sister Russell. It was all about the Book of Mormon and how we are not the teachers, but the spirit is. It was so good! I learned a lot about letting people know that we cannot teach without the spirit, and that the Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion. We used those in teaching people last week and it was so good! Sister Wilson and I role played introducing the Book of mormon to President and Sister Russell! So much pressure, but I heard it went well haha just gotta follow the spirit! I am so grateful for the Russell's. I love them so much! They are so inspired by God.
We had dinner with a couple in the ward and for the spiritual thought the husband looked at sister Wilson and said "sister Wilson would you like to hear your companions testimony of the Book of Mormon?" Of course she said yes and I bore my testimony of how the Book of Mormon has blessed me. All day I was learning more about it and feeding my spirit of its goodness. I LOVE the Book of Mormon. It's brought me so much joy and relates to me in all aspects of my life. I am grateful that I have that book to learn from and draw closer to my father in Heaven and Christ.

Thursday we met with K again and we had no clue what to teach him because there was a lot of stress in being able to teach him everything before baptism, but when we got in to his lesson we asked him if he had the chance to pray about the plan of salvation and he said he did, and that it's true! And then he told us that he really enjoys reading the Book of Mormon and as he's been reading he's coming to know it's true!
In the lesson the spirit directed us to go through the baptismal interview questions with him and so we did even though we haven't taught him everything, but it was so good because it gave him a better idea of what was expected of him at baptism, and also ways he can follow Christ more fully. At the end of the lesson we told him that we needed to push his date for baptism back because we wouldn't have time to teach him anything, but in that moment K proved to us how badly he wanted to be baptized and how much he knew this was true. He told us he was found home for the summer and we told him we could either have his baptism on the 11 of June or he could get baptized when he got home.  But K was very adamant about getting baptized on June 11. And we told him we would have to meet with him more and he said we could meet the next day! We know and K knows that he is ready for baptism. He's amazing!

Friday we met with K again! This time we taught him the word of wisdom and the law of chastity. We showed him a picture of the temple, and since he's an architecture major he loved it! It was such a spiritual lesson as they all are haha but K told us that he understands why god would have these as commandments. We talked a lot about keeping our bodies pure because they are Gifts from god. Bishops wife came and she told K that he would be a blessing to his future family as he kept these commandments and he agreed!! We went on exchanges with the first Ward sisters and sister vittetoe and I tore it up on campus! It was such a good exchange and we found so many great people to teach. Sister Wilson and sister Cortez went to teach J that we reacted in to last week and they taught him the restoration and he has been reading his Book of Mormon and said we could come back!

Saturday we finished up exchanges and had a lesson on the plan of salvation with Q. Sister Wilson asked her if she knows where she came from and she proceeded to tell us that parents in china tell their kids that they either came from the side of a river, or from trash! So of course we asked her what her parents told her and she said that her grandparents told her she came from a river side, but her parents told her they found her in trash outside hahaha best P.O.S lesson ever! We explained to her that we came from our Heavenly Father, and lived with Him before. We really focused on helping her understand that she is a child of god and He loves her so much. She was so happy as she learned more about gods plan of happiness. We invited her to be baptized and she said "maybe... yeah" we invited her to pray about this plan and to read the Book of Mormon! We got to go to adult session of stake conference which was amazing. There were so many good speakers. President and sister Russell talked too! They talked about being a missionary and helping those we love come back to church. How we can all get involved on social media and reach out to everyone.

Sunday was stake conference and Sarah, a recent convert in the ysa and our best friend, brought K AND his girlfriend J to church. Stake conference was so insightful. A lot is it was about temple attendance, and how we should always strive to be temple worthy. It was so good! J told us that's the first time that she's ever been to church regardless of all the invitations her friends have given her. She said she came because she knows how much this means to K. And after stake conference they both stayed for a baptism of a woman named Carole that I met on exchanges last transfer! It was a long Sunday especially for J's first time haha but K explained to her that there's usually a lot less people and it's different. Haha he's so great! We are so excited for K and his example to J! Sister Wilson and I went to dinner that night in Springfield with a family and we talked to their neighbor T. He is going through a lot right now but he keeps his faith in Christ. He's so strong and we gave him a Book of Mormon to gain more strength. I know it'll help him and anyone who reads it!

Thank you for all of your support! I love you all so much! Have the best week. And when you get the chance read ether 12 or enos from the Book of Mormon. They both talk about the strength that god gives to us and how Important prayer is. I have a strong testimony that god knows us all perfectly and comes to us at all times. He's amazing and perfect!

Love,
Sister Peterson
