Happy Halloween! This is one of my favorite holidays and I get to
spend it with all the missionaries! We had a Halloween party with our
zone and we all dressed up and made mini scary movies throughout the
month and I put it all together! Sister Peck and I made it about the
clowns that have been walking around. It was pretty legit! We ate some
pizza and had lots of candy which is my weakness! We made our costumes
and dressed up as ghetto deer because of our ghetto nicknames.

Tuesday sister Peck and I had a lesson that fell through over in the
downtown area and so we decided to go talk to everyone at a nearby
park. As we were walking we talked to a couple people who weren't
interested. We kept walking and saw this guy down the path so we said
hi to him as he walked by and then we asked him if he wanted our card
and he said "what?" Then I said " it has our number on it!" And I
didn't realize how weird that sounded until we had a correlation with
the elders and our ward mission leader later and they couldn't stop
laughing at us. Hey but it worked because he said yes and then he said
" oh you're the sister missionaries!" And he told us that his friend
goes to our church and he's been to a couple activities with him! He
also told us that he went to film school so that was pretty legit! His
name is M and We got to talk to him about Joseph Smith and then
he said "can we meet here tomorrow?"
So the next day we showed up at
the park and it was pouring rain. It was basically like walking
through water. And we weren't sure if he was going to be there so we
tried to call and text but no answer so sister peck, me and our member
went swimming through the rain and Lo and behold we found M
walking in the park! He came! Also we found out we had the wrong last
digit in his number. We were able to teach him the restoration and he
told us that he's been wanting to change for the better and to become
more Christlike. It was amazing because everything we had to teach
would help him become who he and God wants him to be! It was a really
spiritual lesson and we got to sit under a pavilion so we weren't
totally soaked. We talked with him about we need to recognize those
little things as gods hands in our lives. How we basically need to
give it all to him and recognize that he is always there for us. He
told us he would look for those tender mercies that happen all the
time.
After we had our lesson we went tracting. In the rain! We were soaked
to the bones. We had our ward Halloween party and sister Mathias took
us home to get changed. And for our costumes we switched our name
tags! Everyone kept coming up to us and saying " you're a missionary
right?" And guess who came! M came! It was a lot of fun and we
got to do a cupcake walk so basically cake and Halloween and the coos
bay ward and dry clothes make for a good time!
On Friday we had district meeting and then we went on exchanges and I
got to be companions with sister dobbs again! It was just like the
times in grants pass. We walked about 3 miles that night and got to
talk to some pretty cool people. I also got to feed some cat fish at
dinner!
Sunday we taught the last half of gospel principles class and it was
all about obedience. It was a really good lesson to teach and also to
learn about more and more. I've definitely seen the blessings of being
obedient and also throughout my life the consequences from being
disobedient. Luckily we have our savior Jesus Christ to make up where
we lack. He can change us for the better and help us learn from those
experiences we have. It was amazing to see everyone's experiences in
the class and how they can turn to Jesus for strength. When we
understand why we need to be obedient it helps too.
I hope you all have a spooky Halloween. Be safe and I love you all!
P.S. Congrats to Kyra and J on the wedding! I love you both.
Love,
Sister Peterson
