The week of rain was upon us! We got told that Saturday was supposed
to be this HUGE rain storm and we had to prepare ourselves and the
whole Sha bang, and when Saturday came it was hardly a storm! It did a
rain a ton all weekend though, so I can say we got pretty soaked.
On Wednesday we went on exchanges and Sister Santa Maria came with me
to my area. We had a lesson with a man who was baptized a couple
months ago and we taught about the pre earth life. We read from
Abraham chapter 3 about how we are foreordained and the callings we
receive in this life have been given to us before we even got here! It
was a great lesson and his family was really smart and already knew
everything. Then the next morning, on Thursday we opened our front
door and it was POURING rain. So we slammed the door shut and put on
our rain gear. We had to walk everywhere, and yes we got soaked.
Umbrellas don't really work here.
Thursday night we had a lesson with this guy named C who we met
last week and gave him a Book of Mormon. When we showed up it was
pouring! And we couldn't go inside because his wife was getting their
kids ready for bed. So us and sister Johnson stood outside on the
porch and taught him anyways! We taught him a short summary about how
God loves him and his family and this Gospel will bless his family.
And also we told him if our message wasn't true we wouldn't be
standing in the rain getting soaked!! And he agreed with us. And then
sister Peck invited him to be baptized! And he said yes! It was
probably the best lesson and even feeling like we just jumped in a
pool.
On Friday we had a really good district meeting and elder Deppe came
up with a district name. It's ShaDynasty! And then we all made ghetto
names for each other. I am Lafawnduh and sister Peck is Doequiqui.
Pretty legit! But our meeting was on how to teach more lessons and how
to to begin teaching. I really like these meetings because I
get to learn new ways to share the gospel from other missionaries.
What I really learned was to say change instead of repentance, and
later that day we felt promoted to knock on a door that we saw last
week, so we did, and this woman answered. We started talking to her
and this little girl came running over and started talking to us and
running all around outside in the rain. The moms name is L and we
talked to her about how this gospel will bless her life, and also we
used the word change rather than repentance and she was more inclined
to listen! She told us about how Christ helped her and helped change
her life. It was a really cool experience! Then we went to see her on
Sunday and we gave her a Book of Mormon! She's really cool and excited
to read the book!
Ok so today in Walmart today we started talking to this man who was
standing in line with us and he asked us what church we were from, so
we told him and he asked if we were Christians and of course we said
yes! Then he told us that he has been looking for a church to go to.
So we gave him a Book of Mormon in Walmart! He said he would come to
church too. Pretty legit! I also get mistaken for a Walmart worker
every time I go... This week is Book of Mormon week and we made a goal
of how many books we want to hand out. Sister Peck and I are
pumped for it!!
I hope you all have a great week. Love you!
Love,
Sister Peterson
